Caring for Your Potted Plants

Potted plants make wonderful, long-lasting gifts — but they do need a bit more attention than a bouquet to keep thriving. Here's a simple care guide.

Light. Most indoor plants we sell (Peace Lily, Money Plant, Areca Palm) prefer bright, indirect light — near a window but not in direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.

Watering. Overwatering is the most common mistake. Let the top inch of soil dry out between waterings — stick a finger in to check before watering again.

Humidity. Indoor plants often struggle with dry, air-conditioned rooms. A light misting once or twice a week helps, especially for Peace Lilies.

Feeding. A diluted liquid fertilizer once a month during growing season (spring/summer) is plenty — more isn't better here.

Repotting. If roots start peeking out of the drainage hole, it's time to move up one pot size, ideally at the start of the growing season.

Peace Lilies will even tell you when they're thirsty — the leaves droop noticeably, then perk back up within hours of watering. It's one of the easiest plants to keep alive, which is exactly why it's one of our best-sellers.
